Dr Narayan Dutta Kandel Sworn in as Attorney General

Newly appointed Attorney General Dr Narayan Dutta Kandel was sworn in on Sunday amid a formal ceremony at the Supreme Court.

Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla administered the oath of office and secrecy to Dr Kandel during the event. The ceremony was attended by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, Supreme Court justices, and other high-ranking judicial officials.

Earlier in the day, President Ramchandra Paudel appointed Dr Kandel as the Attorney General on the recommendation of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, in accordance with Article 157 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.

Dr Kandel assumes office as the chief legal advisor to the Government of Nepal, a constitutional position responsible for representing the state in legal matters and providing legal counsel to the government.
