Daily Market Summary: NEPSE Index Beat Down 88.70 Points, All Sector Indices Lose Big

The NEPSE index closed at 2,361.27 today after losing 88.70 points from yesterday's closing. This is a loss of 3.62% on the index. The index had lost 5.84 points on the previous trading day.

228 scrips traded hands via 49,710 transactions. The Float index is at 162.01 after losing 3.66% while the Sensitive index lost 3.26% and is now at 450.08.

Manjushree Finance Limited (MFIL) had the highest turnover of Rs. 19.77 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 1,044.90 per share. The shares of National Hydro Power Company Limited (NHPC) traded the most.

Unilever Nepal Limited (UNL) and Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SMFBS) are the highest gainers but they only gained 2% today. Meanwhile, Naya Sarathi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (NSLB) lost the most 10%, thereby hitting the negative circuit breaker.

All sectors indices have lost today. "Trading" lost the most 7.45%.

Technical Analysis Highlights

The index opened at 2,450.58 and created the intraday high at 2,455.56. It then went as low as 2,360.67 and closed at 2,361.27. With this, the index is at the lowest point since 20th January. Furthermore, the index has lost more than 25% from the all-time high of 3,198.60 created on 18 August this year. 

A total of 7,223,240 shares exchanged hands amounting to Rs. 3.199 Arba in the turnover amount. This is higher than last Thursday's turnover of Rs. 2.673 Arba.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 22.65. The reading was at 27.42 last Thursday. The RSI crossing below the "30" level indicates oversold conditions. Meanwhile, both the MACD line and the signal line are negative, i.e. below zero, with the MACD reading at -80.34. This reading was at -68.77 yesterday. The MACD line is below the signal line, and both are negative, hence indicating a general pessimism in the market.
