CDSC: Shares of 131 listed companies trading in dematerialized form, 26 more to go

At the direction of Securities Board of Nepal,  CDS and Clearing Limited (CDSC) issued a notice stating trading of shares of listed companies can be carried out only in Demat form from Magh 01, 2072. If any company fails to dematerialize their shares by the end of the Poush 2072, the trading of such companies will be halted from Magh 01, 2072.

At present there are 131 listed companies in an agreement with CDSC to dematerialize their shares. Out of 131, 122 listed companies have already started to trade their shares in demat form.

Excluding the companies in liquidation or whose trading has been halted or suspended or in the merger process, there are 26 companies left to be traded in demat form.

CDSC has asked the Investors should open a DEMAT account through authorized depository participants to dematerialize their shares and trade in the secondary market of Nepal.
