CAN InfoTech 2015 from Wednesday

CAN InfoTech, the annual mega event on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is all set to kickstart from Wednesday at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. The Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation, the organiser of the event, today said all preparations have been completed.

The event titled ‘Subisu CAN Info Tech 2015 in association with Dell Intel by Neoteric Nepal’ will provide information on development of new

technologies and showcase a wide range of IT products

and services during the six-day show. According to CAN Federation, during the event Subisu, WebSurfer, Samsung and Videocon Mobile, among others, are launching different schemes for visitors.

The fifth day of the event has been declared ‘Business Day’. On this day, exhibitors will be able to hold business meetings with different dealers, vendors and visiting business people to promote their products and services. According to Amrit Kumar Pant, general secretary of

CAN Federation, entry fee has been fixed at Rs 150 for

general visitors, while students will get 50 per cent discount on tickets. There will be 20

per cent discount for online ticket bookings. There will be a total of 219 stalls representing hardware sales and maintenance, power solutions, mobile accessories, software solutions and internet service providers, among others.

Alongside the main event, a two-day ICT Conference will also be held on February 1 and 2 with the theme ‘Information Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) and Social Transformation’. Prof Subhash Bhatnagar from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad will be the keynote speaker at the conference.

There will be paper presentation and discussion on ‘Emerging Technology for ICT4D’

and ‘Public Service Delivery and Government Transformation’ on the first day and on ‘Knowledge Based Industry and Employment’ and ‘Professional Skill Development for ICT4D’ on the second day of the conference.
