Call to Expedite Operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport
People’s representatives from Siddharthanagar Municipality in Rupandehi have urged the concerned authorities to bring the Gautam Buddha International Airport into operation at the earliest.
The call was made during the inauguration of the municipality’s administrative building on Monday, where local representatives appealed to the federal government to take concrete and immediate steps to ensure the airport becomes fully functional.
On the occasion, Mayor Ishtiyak Ahamad Khan stressed that the airport, constructed with an investment of billions of rupees, should not remain idle and must be brought into operation without further delay.
He expressed confidence that the operation of the airport would significantly boost the country’s economic activities. “Running the airport will not only accelerate development in Bhairahawa but also contribute to national economic growth by increasing tourist arrivals,” Mayor Khan said.
Similarly, municipal spokesperson Muktinath Yadav highlighted that local industrialists and businesspeople have been adversely affected due to the lack of regular commercial flights from the airport.
Local representatives emphasized that timely operation of the airport is crucial for promoting tourism, trade, and regional development.
