Business community urges gov to focus on economics

KATHMANDU:
Industrialists and businessmen have laid emphasis on leading the country towards the path of economic development by ending the existing political instability.
At a programme oganised by Media International here today, the business community expressed the view that national politics should focus on its economic agendas.
On the occasion, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Pradeep Jung Pandey, blamed the political parties for making the promulgation of a new constitution a hostage to vested interests. Pandey said, "Millions of youths are compelled to go abroad for overseas employment as the political parties held the country captive of indecision by not promulgating the new constitution on time". "There is no alternative to take the country towards the path of economic development by utilizing the resources available in the country", he added.
Former Governor Dr Tilak Rawal said that political parties should practice politics for economic development. Likewise, Vice-president of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Rajendra Malla, said that the new constitution should be promulgated as soon as possible through consensus or through vote to address the current political limbo.
Chairman of Nepal Trade Association, Kumar Karki, urged the political parties not to call for general strikes, saying industries in the country have been ruined because of them.
