BREAKING: Six Persons, Including an Agent, Busted in Gold Smuggling Case

The Department of Revenue Investigation has so far busted six individuals in connection with a recent gold smuggling case. The police have also arrested an agent involved in the smuggling of around 100 kilograms of precious yellow metal.

According to Nawaraj Dhungana, the Director-General of the Department, the search for those involved in the gold smuggling is still underway, and the identities of those arrested have not been disclosed.

On Wednesday, a special team from the Department seized a substantial amount of gold in front of the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office while it was being transported through customs in a taxi. The Department promptly arrested two individuals along with the gold at the TIA Customs Office gate.

Dhungana further shared that the team arrested an additional four individuals involved in the scam on the morning following the initial seizure. It is reported that the gold was brought from Hong Kong.

This incident marks the first time such a significant quantity of yellow metal has been seized in Nepal. "Details are yet to be revealed. Those who are on the run are being searched for," he said.
