Besisahar-Chame Road to Remain Closed for Two Days
The Besisahar-Chame road, which serves as the sole link between hilly Lamjung district and mountainous Manang district, will be closed for two days starting today.
According to the Besisahar-Chame road project office, the closure will be in effect from 10:00 am this morning (Thursday) until 5:00 pm (Friday). This temporary closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of two wooden bridges over the Timang Power House Rivulet and Syarku Rivulet.
Suman Adhikari, an engineer at the project office, shared that the construction of two wooden bridges is underway. One bridge will be located in Chame Rural Municipality-1, spanning the Timang Power House Rivulet, while the other will be in ward-2, crossing the Syarku Rivulet.
Adhikari further mentioned that vehicular movement along the road has been completely halted to facilitate the construction work.
"The wooden bridges were constructed in these areas two years ago. However, the materials used in the bridges have deteriorated over time. Therefore, the plan is to replace the worn-out materials with new ones. Ensuring the safety of vehicles, including loaded vehicles, that traverse these bridges is now an urgent priority to prevent any potential accidents," he stated.
The wooden bridge over the Timang Bridge will have a length of nine meters and a breadth of four and a half meters. Another wooden bridge, spanning the Syarku Rivulet, will measure seven meters in length and four meters in breadth.
