Balen Shah Appointed as Prime Minister By President Poudel
The country is getting a new Prime Minister today. Ram Chandra Poudel has appointed Balendra Shah as Prime Minister under Article 76(1) of the Constitution, recognizing him as the leader of the majority party in the House of Representatives. This marks the first instance of a Prime Minister being appointed through this provision since the promulgation of the Constitution in 2072 BS.
The oath of office is scheduled to be administered by President Poudel this afternoon at Sheetal Niwas at 12:34 pm. According to the Office of the President, the ceremony will feature traditional rituals, including Shankhnad from seven conch shells, Swasti Shanti recitation by 108 batuks, and Ashtamangal chanting by 16 Buddhist monks.
