Analysis of top 5 Microfinance Companies as of Q1 of FY 2073/74; Naya Nepal reports 365% growth

There are a total of 42 microfinance companies operating in Nepal. Out of these, 33 are currently listed in Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) for trading purpose.
ShareSansar has analyzed top five microfinance companies on the basis of their fundamentals data such as Paid up Capital, Reserves, Net Profit, Non-Performing Loan (NPL) and Earning per Share (EPS). Till date, only 26 companies have published their first quarter report of the current fiscal year 2073/74.
According to the analysis, Nirdhan Utthan Bikas Bank Limited (NUBL) and Chhimek Laghubitta Bikas Bank Limited (CBBL) have earned highest net profit in Q1 of the FY 2073/74. The microfinance companies have earned Rs 15.70 crore and Rs 12.66 crore respectively in Q1 of FY 2073/74.
In terms of percentage change in net profit, 5 companies, Naya Nepal Laghubitta Bikas Bank Limited (NNLB), Nepal Grameen Bikas Bank Limited (NGBBL), Laxmi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (LLBS), NMB Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha Limited (NMBMF) and Nirdhan Utthan Bikas Bank Limited (NUBL) have shown tremendous growth. Naya Nepal Laghubitta’s net profit grew massively by 365.04 percent. In the corresponding quarter last fiscal year, the company was at a loss of Rs 4.52 lakh.
Likewise, in terms of paid up capital, Rural Microfinance has the highest paid up capital among all the microfinance companies.
Rural Microfinance, Sana Kisan, Chhimek, Swabalamban and Nirdhan Utthan outstand in the top 5 position in terms of reserve & surplus. Rural Microfinance has the highest reserve of Rs 1.50 arba.
Three companies have Earning per Share (EPS) above Rs 100 and 8 companies have EPS between Rs 50 and Rs 100. Nagbeli, Deprosc, Nirdhan Utthan, Laxmi Laghubitta and Swabalamban Bikas Bank are the top five companies having highest EPS.

Naya Nepal Laghuitta has the highest NPL compared to the remaining microfinance companies in the Q1 of the FY 2073/74. Its NPL remains at 6.67% in Q1 of the FY 2073/74. Its NPL was at 15.55% in Q1 of previous year corresponding quarter. Likewise, Nepal Grameen and Mithila Laghubitta’s NPL remains at 5.70% and 4.05% respectively.
In terms of lowest Non Performing Loans, First Microfinance leads all the companies. Its NPL is nil as of the first quarter of FY 2073/74. Besides, Rural Microfinance and Chhimek Laghubitta have the second and third least NPL at 0.01% and 0.08%. The NPL of Chhimek Microfinance has increased by 3 times as compared to the corresponding quarter of last fiscal year, however, it is still minimal at 0.08%. Likewise, Sana Kisan and Laxmi Laghubitta are also among the companies with minimal NPL at 0.11% and 0.30% respectively.
