After Banks and Financial Institutions, Insurance Companies Are In Line to Go on Pandemic Mode of Operation

Beema Samiti has directed all insurance companies to arrange work from home for their employees as much as possible. NRB has also directed to use virtual medium of service to reduce congestion in insurance companies.

The government of Nepal has issued a slew of orders amid the threat of a second wave of the virus. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,227 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours of which 98 are in children. Kathmandu Valley recorded 634 cases—505 are from Kathmandu, 97 from Lalitpur, and 32 from Bhaktapur. In response to the orders, regulatory bodies of various service sectors have instructed companies under them to do what is possible to curb virus spread. 

Executive Director of Beema Samiti, Rajuraman Poudel, informed that the employees have been instructed to perform their duties regularly by operating on a shift basis. Poudel informed that they have been instructed to provide services by making arrangements so that the service recipients are not crowded and physical distance is maintained.

It is instructed that the services provided by the insurance companies should be done electronically as much as possible so as to reduce the number of customers. Beema Samiti has also directed insurance companies to organize regular meetings, seminars, training, and other programs through virtual means as much as possible.

Beema Samiti has also directed to make arrangements for immediate testing in case of suspicion of infection in the employees, to isolate and quarantine the infected employees.
