53 Local Governments Yet to Announce Budgets for FY 2024/25

As the fiscal year nears its end, 53 local governments have failed to present their financial plans for FY 2024/25, breaching the Intergovernmental Fiscal Management Act, 2017, which mandates budget submission by June-end.

According to data from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, 7.04 percent of Nepal’s 753 local bodies have yet to meet this legal requirement.

Madhesh Province accounts for the highest number of non-compliant local units, with 24 out of 136 failing to endorse their annual budgets on time.
