Tribhuvan International Airport Implements New Restrictions on Passenger Greetings

Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has recently introduced a new policy allowing only three individuals to greet and welcome each arriving passenger. The decision was made by the airport office in response to challenges related to traffic management, limited space, overcrowding, and an elevated risk of accidents.
Following concerns over the large crowds outside the domestic and international terminal buildings, the airport security committee decided to restrict the number of people accompanying each passenger to three individuals.
The airport office stated that the decision was necessary to address issues of traffic congestion, limited space, and overcrowding, all of which have been impacting the efficient operation of the airport and posing an increased risk of accidents.
The security committee highlighted the adverse effects of the growing crowds on passenger services and emphasized the heightened risk of accidents in the passenger drop-off area.
Notably, the implementation of this new policy primarily targets the evening hours when overseas flights are more prevalent. During this time, a significant number of relatives gather in front of the international terminal building, leading to substantial congestion.
The objective of this policy is to ensure smoother traffic flow, alleviate overcrowding concerns, and ultimately enhance the overall safety and experience of passengers at Tribhuvan International Airport.
