BIRATNAGAR, Oct 16:
Taking a cure from Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai, promoters of Golchha Organization, whose subsidiary Hulas Motors hogged the media headlines after the prime minister chose to ride a locally-assembled Mustang vehicle, have decided to ride Mustang vehicles themselves.

So far, they were riding expensive foreign sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and were criticized for not making efforts to promote the local brand even as the PM chose one for himself despite security concerns and protests from the Ministry of Home (MoH).

“Promoters of Golchha Organization have decided to ride Mustang vehicles,” said a senior official at Hulas Motors, adding that the company is currently producing eight different vehicles for as many directors of the organization.

The company said it would deliver the vehicles to the promoters soon. They would be soon seen riding Mustang, said the official.

Jayanta Bajagain, manager of Hulas Motors, further said it is also ready to manufacture luxury vehicles equipped with all security features for the PM.

The company is gearing up to deliver a new Mustang vehicle to the PM after MoH said the vehicle being used by the PM is not comfortable and lacked security features. MoH had asked the company to deliver a new vehicle, providing various security specifications, among others.

In order to enhance its capacity to deliver the specified features and rework on the design, the company has even sent its technicians to India for necessary training.

“We are ready to produce new vehicles and awaiting formal order from MoH. Once we get the letter, we will start assembling it,” Bajagain told Republica.

The new vehicle that the company will deliver to the PM will be of 2,540 CC - double of what the existing Mustang is able to deliver. It will also be different in model and design from what he is riding at present.

Apart from all specified security features, it will be equipped with power-steering and air-conditioning features. It will have a capacity to accommodate 9 people. The cost of the new vehicle will be about Rs 2 million.

The Mustang that the PM is riding now is priced at Rs 1.4 million.

The company has disclosed that sales of Mustang vehicles, which are mostly used in hilly rural terrains, have increased by 20 percent after the PM marked it out as his preferred car. Currently, the company is witnessing a substantial number of enquiries and.

“A crowd has continued to remain at the factory. Even Constituent Assembly members and government officials have approached us and placed orders,” said Bajagain.
