The Simbu Hydropower Centre, constructed by the Sanjen Hydropower Company, has started generating electricity. The hydropower project, officially named Upper Sanjen, boasting a capacity of 14.8 MW, has successfully initiated energy production since August 5. The energy harnessed from this hydropower project has been seamlessly integrated into the national transmission grid.
According to Sunil Kumar Dhungel, the Managing Director of Sanjen Hydropower Company, the construction of the Upper Sanjen Hydropower Project, which was initiated back in 2013, has now seamlessly transitioned into its operational phase. The energy generated is being efficiently routed to the central storage through the Chilime Hydropower's national transmission line.
Further elaborating, Dhungel shared that the Upper Sanjen Hydropower Project is projected to yield an impressive annual energy output of 88.5 million units. This substantial output is anticipated to translate into a considerable yearly revenue of Rs 400 million. Notably, the powerhouse is strategically positioned at an altitude of 2,180 meters above sea level.
