Top six finalists announced for Glocal Teen Hero 2017

To serve the growing appetite for ‘Innovation ‘and ‘Creative thinking’ among the evolving youth of our country, Wai Wai and Glocal Private limited ( online news portal ) has been providing a common platform for self-driven youth ( between the age of 13-19) , well known as ‘ Glocal Teen Hero ‘ to showcase their talents ,skills and creativity. This year’s competition, which was held for the third consecutive year, received over 320 applications from different academic disciplinary such as social work to journalism, from mobile app development and computer programming, to robotics, and from entrepreneurship to community development. Based on their resume, the evidence and an essay on their accomplishment, six top finalists were shortlisted to advance further where they shall go through a six days capacity building workshop. On August 10, 2017, Glocal Pvt. Ltd. unveiled the list of 20 brightest Nepali youths under the age of 20. The youths are from various diverse fields ranging from social work, child right activism, computer programming, science, journalism, technology, and entrepreneurship among others. The shortlisted candidates who shall be the awarded winner through SMS voting are listed below:

  5. Sachin Dangi- GTH SD
  6. Tanmay Chaudhary- GTH TC
top six Releasing the list, Asish Thakur, Executive Director of Glocal Pvt. Ltd., said, “The Wai Wai Glocal 20 Under 20 list is the ultimate honor roll of young game changers reshaping Nepal for the better. This platform will encourage the youths to share their initiation, creativity, and enthusiasm which will then motivate them and more of the other youths in the nation to develop an entrepreneurial thinking.” The selected youths will be honored amidst the Grand celebration of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero award on September 1, 2017. Stories of these youths are being published at Glocal Khabar. Similarly, Glocal is also going to organize the first Wai Wai Glocal International Teen Conference on September 1, 2017 which will showcase the ideas, and stories of the teenagers from countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Liberia, etc. through the series of panel discussion.
