Thamel Tourism Development Council has announced the commencement of round-the-clock business operations in the Thamel and Durbarmarg areas, effective from Baisakh 01, 2081 (April 13), coinciding with the Nepali New Year. Chairperson Bhabiswor Sharma confirmed the completion of all necessary preparations to facilitate this significant shift in operating hours.

Responsibility for the maintenance of security and overall management within the area has been entrusted to the District Administration Office, Kathmandu. Assistant Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Sharma assured that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place to uphold the newly sanctioned night-time business operations. These measures are devised in alignment with the recommendations provided by various stakeholders, ensuring adherence to safety and security protocols.

Inclusivity marks this initiative, as all tourism-related establishments, including clubs, dance venues, and discos, are slated to remain open throughout the night. Chairperson Sharma clarified that the extension of operating hours applies to all sections of Thamel, with the exception of Bhagawanbahal, following thorough consultation and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Furthermore, an uncompromising stance on quality standards underscores this development. Businesses found to be non-compliant with prescribed criteria and codes of conduct will face closure, effective from April 14. This proactive measure aims to maintain the integrity and vibrancy of Thamel's touristic landscape while ensuring the safety and satisfaction of visitors and locals alike.
