Tea exports from Nepal through the eastern checkpoint at Kakadbhitta have recorded a sharp decline in the first four months of the current fiscal year. According to the Mechi Customs Office, tea worth Rs 1.373 billion was exported during the review period.

Public Information Officer Ishwor Kumar Humagain informed that Nepal exported a total of 4,688,932 kilograms of tea to India between mid-July and mid-November. However, the export figure marks a 37 percent drop compared to the same period last fiscal year.

In the corresponding period last year, tea worth Rs 2.205 billion was exported, indicating a decline of Rs 831.7 million this year. The significant decline highlights growing challenges in Nepal’s tea export sector.
