Start of the week, Banks in conflict, NHPC traded below par and here’s how NEPSE performed

NEPSE index has declined by a striking 31.04 points or 2.36% today. The market had opened at 1,315.19 which dipped to 1,292.74 at around 11:55 PM. After that there was np significant improvement in the market and index was seen fluctuating throughout the rest of the day and finally ended up in red at 1,284.10 points. The shares of National Hydro Power Company (NHPC) today traded below par with recorded closing price at Rs. 98, this has happened for the first time in a long time.
Total turnover worth Rs 32.5 crore was witnessed during the trading hours as more than 7.63 lakh unit shares were traded in the whole day. 4,831 transactions were made for the transaction of the scrips.
Nepal Life Insurance Company (NLIC) stood ahead in terms of turnover as more than 2.52 crore worth shares were traded. Similarly, National Hydro Power Company Limited (NHPC) was the top in case of number of shares traded as 62.02 thousand unit shares were exchanged.
Likewise, Siddhartha Equity Fund (SEF) was the top gainer of the day as it gained 2.98 %. And, Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (GILB) was the top loser of the day losing 9.38% on its price.
The sub-indices for all sectors landed in red today. Out of all, Insurance was the top losing sector as it tumbled by 243.18.
