Setikhola Hydropower Project in Parbat District Commences Power Generation

After five years of dedicated development efforts, the Setikhola Hydropower Project in Paiyun and Bihadi rural municipalities, Parbat district, has successfully initiated power generation. The hydropower project boasts a capacity of 3.5 megawatts and has recently commenced its test transmission phase.
The canal headwork, located at Beulibas in Paiyun Rural Municipality-2, feeds into the powerhouse situated at Ghangre in Bihadi Rural Municipality-6. The innovative project utilizes a 3,600-meter-long pipeline to transport water from Beulibas to Ghangre.
China's Asia Pacific Project executed the electromechanical components of the project, while K and K Builders from Biratnagar were responsible for the pipeline construction. The civil construction of the project was entrusted to The Brothers Builders Kathmandu. The overall project cost has surpassed Rs 1.1 billion.
Dr. Shiva Shankar Basyal, the Company Secretary of the project, reported that the generated power would soon be integrated into the national grid of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The power purchase agreement (PPA) with NEA has already been signed, and the supply to the grid is expected to commence within the next two weeks.
Financial support for the Setikhola Hydropower Project was provided by Siddhartha Bank Limited and Garima Development Bank, showcasing collaborative efforts in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions.
