SEBON has issued a statement to clarify on the issue of PAN implementation from Baisakh 1, 2076. The board has clarified that PAN will be made compulsory for those investors whose single share trading is equivalent to Rs 5 lakh or more in a given day. This doesn’t mean that the investors whose total trading value after multiple trading reaching Rs 5 lakh on a single day needs to link up with the PAN.

To simplify it further, if a person performs number of transactions on a single day which together add up to Rs 5 lakh or more, s/he doesn’t need to link up with the PAN. However, if a person trades a shares whose single transaction itself totals up to Rs 5 lakh or more, then s/he needs to get the PAN.
