SEBON Chair Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta Meets IMF Nepal Representative on Capital Market Reforms

The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Chairperson Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta held a courtesy meeting with Pranav Kumar Gupta, Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Nepal, on Tuesday.

The meeting took place at SEBON’s office in Khumaltar, Lalitpur, where the two sides discussed the current state of Nepal’s capital market, policy reforms, sustainable market development, and strengthening SEBON’s institutional capacity.

During the meeting, Dr. Bhatta briefed the IMF representative on the initiatives being undertaken by SEBON to modernize the capital market and enhance transparency. The discussions also focused on measures needed to further strengthen Nepal’s securities market and improve its institutional framework.

Gupta appreciated the reform initiatives undertaken by SEBON and expressed the IMF’s continued support for the development of Nepal’s financial sector. He stated that the IMF, along with other international financial institutions, would continue to provide support and coordination on policy and technical matters related to capital market reforms.

The meeting is expected to contribute to greater coordination between SEBON and international financial institutions in strengthening the institutional development and overall efficiency of Nepal’s capital market.
