SEBON addresses listed companies on unauthorized leak of sensitive information

Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has addressed publishing of sensitive information regarding company’s future decisions that have not yet been endorsed by their AGM/SGMs. SEBON has warned listed companies on news that contain these kinds of information in the form of interviews and opinions from top officials of a company’s management or BOD team.
Issuing a press statement, SEBON says that these kinds of news have influenced the share price of the companies’ in the secondary market up to the point that investors have had to bear big loss. To resolve this, SEBON insists that such kinds of sensitive information should be publicized only by authorized person of the company after notifying of the same to the Board.
If such sensitive information is found to be published without the above guideline, SEBON will take necessary actions against the company including suspension of trading, added the statement.
