Sanvi Energy Ltd. Reports Significant Damage to Hydropower Plants Due to Landslides and Floods

Sanvi Energy Ltd. has informed that, as per prior warnings issued by the Government of Nepal and relevant authorities, continuous rainfall has been observed across various regions of the country, including Ilam district and its surrounding areas, since 18th and 19th Ashwin 2082 BS. These rains have caused both human and material losses, which are already known to the public.
On the morning of 19th Ashwin 2082, around 2–3 AM, unexpected landslides and flooding occurred, severely impacting the physical infrastructure of the Jogmai Khola Small Hydropower Project (7.6 MW) and the Jogmai Cascade Hydropower Project (5.2 MW), both constructed and operated by Sanvi Energy Ltd. As flooding in the river has not yet fully subsided, the assessment of damages is still ongoing. At present, electricity generation from these projects has been completely suspended.
