The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has recently updated its 'Air Operators Certificate Requirement' (AOCR). According to the latest revision, which marks the 10th amendment to the 9-point AOCR, CAAN has announced its acceptance of airline company mergers. However, the authority has adopted a stringent approach when communicating with the owners of these airline companies.

Under the new regulations, air service companies are required to increase their fleet size to a minimum of 5 aircraft within the next 5 years. Similarly, any new company seeking to operate an airline must possess at least 3 aircraft.

The rules now strictly prohibit company presidents, shareholders, executive directors, accounting managers, and senior employees from expressing opinions that contradict the authority's policies. Furthermore, airline companies are prohibited from engaging in activities that are deemed inappropriate.

Pilots are now barred from participating in any commercial activities apart from their duties as aviators. Additionally, the revised regulations stipulate that no airline company can appoint accounting managers and 'post holders' without obtaining prior approval from CAAN.
