Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Funds Reach Rs 16.15 Billion After Bhote Koshi Floods
Financial contributions continue to flow into the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Rescue Fund and Prime Minister’s Relief Fund following the devastating floods in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa on August 26.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the total balance accumulated in the funds has reached Rs 16.15 billion. Of this, around Rs 12.05 billion is held in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Rescue Fund across nine commercial banks.
Meanwhile, the US dollar accounts maintained at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank hold a combined balance of approximately USD 27.1 million.
The government has already released Rs 1 billion from the accumulated funds to provide assistance to areas affected by the floods and landslides.
