President Paudel Administers Oath to Newly Appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Council of Ministers

President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Prime Minister Sushila Karki and her newly formed Council of Ministers during a special ceremony held at the Office of the President, Maharajgunj, today. The appointments were made following Article 76 of the Constitution of Nepal.

According to the President’s Office, Prime Minister Karki has been entrusted with a broad set of portfolios. She will directly oversee the ministries related to Industry, Commerce, and Supplies; Agriculture and Livestock Development; Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation; Women, Children, and Senior Citizens; Youth and Sports; Health; Forests and Environment; Education, Science, and Technology; Labour, Employment, and Social Security; Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation; Federal Affairs and General Administration; Communication and Information Technology; and Health and Population.

Alongside the Prime Minister, three other ministers have been appointed with specific responsibilities:

  1. Rameshwor Prasad Khanal has been appointed as Minister of Finance. He will handle all fiscal and monetary matters, including economic policy formulation, budgetary management, and revenue mobilization.

  2. Kulman Ghising has been appointed as Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. His portfolio also covers Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, underscoring the government’s focus on sustainable energy, infrastructure expansion, and city planning.

  3. Om Prakash Aryal has taken charge as Minister of Home Affairs, Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs. He will be responsible for internal security, the legal system, and the government’s coordination with the legislature.

The President’s Office further confirmed that all newly appointed ministers took the constitutional oath of office and secrecy during the special ceremony.

This development marks the formal beginning of the Karki administration, which assumes power at a time of significant political, economic, and social challenges in Nepal. The comprehensive allocation of portfolios to the Prime Minister reflects her government’s intention to directly address pressing issues, ranging from governance and social security to economic reforms and infrastructure development.
