President Paudel Administers Oath to New Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma

President Ramchandra Paudel on Tuesday administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas, in the evening.

Among those present at the ceremony were Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Balendra Shah, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal and other senior government officials.

Earlier in the day, President Paudel appointed Dr Sharma as Chief Justice on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council in accordance with Article 129 (2) of the Constitution.

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee meeting held at Singha Durbar had unanimously endorsed the Constitutional Council’s recommendation to appoint Dr Sharma as the 33rd Chief Justice of Nepal.
