PM Balen Shah: Over 15 Flights Conducted as Rescue and Relief Efforts Intensify in Flood-Hit Rasuwa

Prime Minister Balen Shah has said that efforts are underway to rapidly deliver essential relief supplies to flood-affected areas while rescue operations continue in Rasuwa.

Prime Minister Shah said helicopter rescue flights began at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, with more than 15 flights already completed as of the latest update. He added that additional helicopters remain on standby to support ongoing rescue operations.

According to Shah, the Nepali Army rescued 116 people from Timure in Rasuwa in a rescue operation on Thursday morning. Of those rescued, 95 were Nepali nationals, and 21 were Indian nationals. In a separate operation, seven Nepali citizens stranded inside a tunnel were also rescued safely.

Prime Minister Shah said essential supplies and equipment are being transported to the affected areas, including generators, portable mobile towers, medical supplies, tents, and machines for cutting iron and rocks.

He said temporary arrangements for mobile network connectivity and mobile phone charging facilities would be established in the disaster-affected areas shortly to help restore communication and support rescue coordination.

Shah also said that a temporary camp has been established in Nuwakot, with arrangements made for food and drinking water for those affected by the disaster.

He added that information collection through drone surveys is in its final stage, which is expected to provide authorities with a clearer assessment of the situation across the affected areas.

The Prime Minister further said that during helicopter evacuations, priority would be given to critically ill and seriously injured people, elderly citizens, women and children.

The government has continued to mobilize security agencies and emergency resources as rescue, relief and communication restoration efforts intensify in the flood-affected areas of Rasuwa.
