Petrol pumps remain close in Valley to protest murder
KATHMANDU, April 11:
Most of the Valley patrol pumps remained closed today to protest murder of a manager of petrol pump in Chitwan.
All Nepal Petroleum Workers’ Association today halted petroleumproducts supply throughout the country for today demanding to arrest and take action against the killer of Bharat Ghimire, a petroleum dealer, who was murdered in Chitwan some days ago.The association warned of stern protest, if the killers were not brought to book. Ghimire, the manager of Bharatpur Municipality-1 based Jagadamba Oil Store, was shot dead by an unidentified gang.
Even though, the workers’ association had called nationwide strike, most of petrol pumps in Kathmandu valley and Chitawan district remained close. “Petrol pumps in the rest of the districts were open,” said Narayan Bhandari of Nepal Petroleum Dealers’ National Association. “The NPDNA had earlier agreed to express its solidarity, if the strike was of a half-day,” he said, adding that it took back its support after the workers’ association did not agree to reduce the strike to half a day.
