Panchkhal community gets support from earthquake assistance program; 120 employees from MetLife Nepal volunteered with Habitat For Humanity Nepal to rebuild the community
One hundred and twenty employee volunteers from MetLife Nepal worked with Habitat for Humanity Nepal, to help re-build an earthquake-affected community in Panchkhal, Kavre from February 11-13.
The volunteers worked along-side local community members to move bricks, soiling and cut stone, in preparation to construct houses for the community.
The team of volunteers included MetLife’s Vice President and General Manager for Nepal, Nirmal Kajee Shrestha, along with the company’s Head of Operations for Nepal, Ram K Yadav.
“The people of Panchkhal have experienced tremendous loss and hardship over the years and MetLife Nepal is honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity to support their rebuilding efforts. Everyday we strive to help millions of customers around the world protect their property, finances, family, and future. Our volunteer efforts are a natural extension of what we do,” said Mr. Shrestha.
“The activity allowed us to interact with the local community, work side-by-side with families, and listen to their stories and learn about their needs,” he added
MetLife Foundation has worked closely with Habitat for Humanity on a number if projects in various countries across Asia. In 2018, more than 8000 MetLife volunteers contributed over 25,000 hours across 9 countries in Asia.
