Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Limited has resumed power generation from both of its projects in Ilam district after a temporary disruption caused by floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall on Ashwin 17 and 18, 2082.
According to the company, the flood in the Mai River had caused significant damage to the Headworks and civil structures of the Upper Mai Hydropower Project (9.98 MW) and to the powerhouse and Headworks of the Mai C Hydropower Project (5.1 MW). As a result, both plants had stopped generating electricity from 9:45 PM on Ashwin 18.
After necessary repairs and maintenance, the Mai C Hydropower Project (5.1 MW) resumed operations on Ashwin 23 at 9:35 AM, while the Upper Mai Hydropower Project (9.98 MW) came back online on Ashwin 26 at 7:50 PM. The company confirmed that electricity generation from both projects has now been fully restored.
