Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Announces Partial Resumption of Power Generation Following Flood Damage

Heavy rainfall on Ashoj 17 and 18 triggered floods and landslides in the Mai River, causing significant damage to the civil structures and headworks of Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Limited’s two projects in Ilam, the 9.98 MW Upper Mai Hydropower Project and the 5.1 MW Mai C Hydropower Project. As a result, electricity generation from both projects was halted on Ashwin 18 at 9:45 PM. However, after maintenance, the Mai C Hydropower Project resumed power generation on Ashoj 23 at 9:35 AM.

Repair works on the damaged structures of the Upper Mai Project are ongoing, and the plant is expected to be operational within a few days. The company stated that priority has been given to restoring electricity generation while continuing maintenance work simultaneously.
