Over 6,700 Government Employees Found Skipping Office Hours, NVC Tightens Monitoring
The National Vigilance Centre (NVC) has stepped up surprise inspections at government offices across the country. According to Information Officer Sarita Khatiwada, the Centre has formed five teams that conduct surprise checks at around 10 offices each day.
The teams monitor employee attendance, office uniforms, file tracking, and other administrative activities. Since the beginning of the current fiscal year, the Centre has carried out inspections at 1,130 government offices. During the inspections, 6,710 employees were found to have failed to report to work on time, while 1,162 employees were found not wearing the prescribed office uniform.
Some offices were inspected two or three times during the period. Information Officer Khatiwada said the Centre has recommended action against employees found violating the rules. Under the Civil Service Act, 2049 BS, employees who receive two warnings are subject to departmental action.
The National Vigilance Centre has been conducting such monitoring activities in government offices across all seven provinces.
