NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang Donates US$10 Million to Nepal’s Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund

Jensen Huang, CEO of US-based technology giant NVIDIA, has donated US$10 million (more than Rs 1.5 billion) to Nepal’s Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to support rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts for victims affected by the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River region.

Huang’s contribution is equivalent to approximately Rs 1.5 billion in Nepali currency and is among the largest donations received by the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund from a foreign individual or business leader following the Bhotekoshi flood disaster.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle expressed gratitude to Huang for the unprecedented contribution and said the total amount collected in the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund has now crossed Rs 10 billion.

“US$10 million contribution. Heartfelt thanks to Mr. Jensen Huang, Chief Executive Officer of NVIDIA,” Wagle said, adding that the fund has surpassed the Rs 10 billion mark following the contribution.

Huang’s donation marks a significant contribution from the international private sector to Nepal’s disaster response efforts. NVIDIA is a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and accelerated computing, and Huang is one of the most prominent figures in the global technology industry.

The contribution is expected to strengthen ongoing efforts related to search and rescue, emergency relief, reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, and rehabilitation of affected families.

Following the devastating Bhotekoshi floods, the Nepal government has appealed for support for rescue, relief and rehabilitation. Governments, development partners, banks and financial institutions, business groups and members of the public have contributed to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.

With Huang’s US$10 million contribution, the fund has now crossed Rs 10 billion, providing additional resources for the government’s ongoing disaster response and recovery efforts.

The donation also highlights the growing role of international businesses and global private-sector leaders in supporting Nepal during major natural disasters.
