Executive committee of Nepal Tourism Board last week has formed a subcommittee for the appointment of a new chief executive for next four years term as the incumbent chief executive Prachanda Man Shrestha is retiring on November 1.

The NTB executive committee has formed a sub committee with Dhurba Narayan Shrestha, Ganesh Simkhada, and Nimi Sherpa for the selection of the CEO. The sub committee is going to announce an open competition.

According to the NTB regulation, chief executive must hold a Masters degree and have an experience of 10 years in the tourism sector to be eligible for the post of chief executive at the NTB that is one of the models of public private partnership (PPP) in the country.

“After the formal meeting of the subcommittee, we will announce the vacancy with 35 days of application deadline,” sub committee member Dhurba Narayan Shrestha, said, adding that the committee then will shortlist the applicants and will call for either a written test or directly for an interview before the selection.

The incumbent Prachanda Man Shrestha was appointed chief executive of the Nepal Tourism Board on November 1, 2007 for the four-year term.

He was selected from among the 22 applicants, who had applied for the post.

He was also instrumental in establishing NTB and was also involved with UNDP’s partnership for Quality Tourism Project.

He is the third CEO in the NTB after Pradeep Raj Pandey and Tek Bahadur Dangi. The position was vacant for nine months after the tenure of Dangi completed in February 2007.
