NRB Forms High-Level Task Force to Drive Banking Sector Reforms and Modernization
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has formed a three-member task force to recommend comprehensive reforms in the banking sector, aiming to enhance stability, regulation, and modernization. The task force is led by Dr. Rewat Bahadur Karki, with members Bhuvan Kumar Dahal and Guru Paudel.
Assigned a 30-day deadline, the team will assess Nepal's current banking landscape, focusing on risk-based supervision, customer service, rural credit expansion, merger impacts, and FATF grey list removal.
It will also advise on NRB’s coordination with capital market institutions. The Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal (CBFIN) has welcomed the move, calling it a historic step toward meaningful financial reform. This initiative reflects NRB’s dedication to strengthening transparency, economic revival, and long-term banking resilience.
