New variant of corona virus identified in Nepal; new variant is highly infectious and alarming to all age groups

A new variant of COVID-19 has been identified in the country. According to the joint spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Samir Mani Adhikari, the new variant was identified while conducting sample tests in different parts of the country. 

With this, three kinds of variants have been recorded so far in Nepal.  Thirty-five samples were tested in coordination with WHO at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrated Biology, India, and new variant B. 1617.2 was recorded.   

Dr. Adhikari shared that the new variant is highly infectious and alarming to all age groups.   This is the same variant identified in India recently.
