New govt should resolve Tarai issues, focus on economic agendas: Pvt sector

Stating that the protest in Tarai districts for the past two months and the blockade at border points have been hitting national economy hard, FNCCI President Pashupati Murarka said the strike will end once the government addresses demands of Madhes-based parties. "It will create environment for smooth functioning of industries which have remained shut ever since the protest started in Tarai," he added. Murarka said the government should give priority to economic agendas to revive Nepali economy after settling Tarai issues. "The government should not overlook people's aspiration for economic prosperity after the endorsement of constitution," said Murarka. Similarly, Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, president of NCC, said the major challenge of the government will be to normalize situation in Tarai belt by ending strike and blockade and create environment for industries to resume operation. "Tarai unrest and blockade at border points have hit our economy hard," Shrestha told Republica, adding, "The new Prime Minister should immediately start discussion to address demands of disgruntled groups and resume Nepal-India trade."
