NEPSE's Four-Day Upward Rally Interrupted with 35.37 Points Loss on Wednesday; Only Life Insurance Sector Closes Green; NEPSE To Remain Closed Tomorrow

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) upward rally ongoing since the past four trading days has finally come to a close with a loss of 35.37 points on Wednesday. This is a loss of 1.62 percent. Since Thursday to Tuesday, in four-trading days, the market had reached 2186.36 from 2050.78, which is a massive gain of 135.58. Yesterday, the market had gained a massive 56.94 points to close at 2,186.36 level.
Today, the market opened at 2,193.51 points and made an intra-day high at 2,205.97 level. In contrast, it spiralled as low as 2,146.06 and eventually closed at 2,150.99 points.
280 scrips exchanged hands via 82,359 transactions. A total of 13,342,996 shares traded hands amounting to a total turn over of Rs. 5.97 Arba as opposed to yesterday's turnover of Rs. 5.47. This indicates that despite the fact that the market lost points today, there is still optimism amongst the investors with regard to NEPSE.
Himalayan Life Insurance Limited (HLI) had the top turnover today amongst all listed companies amounting to Rs. 83.70 crores followed by SHIVM and SHL with Rs. 28.22 crores and Rs. 23.56 crores in turnover, respectively.
A total of 1,523,712 unit shares of HLI were traded via 7,112 transactions. The LTP of HLI stood at Rs. 557.90.
Two scripts including HLI and BPW hit the positive circuit today while CITY almost touched the upper circuit with 9.99% gain.
On the contrary, Ingwa Hydropower Limited (IHL) lost the most with a negative change of 6.64 per cent in its share price.
Among the sectors (sub indices), only the Life Insurance sector closed green while all other sectors closed red.
Tomorrow, on the occasion of Bakri Eid (Eid-ul-Adha) the government has granted a public holiday, in accordance with the same NEPSE will observe a closure tomorrow, which is the last trading day of the week.
