Nepse went further down despite satisfactory Financial Reports

This week Nepal Stock Exchange started with declining note as the index plunge by 3.26 points in the opening day. As the week progressed the Nepse went further down despite satisfactory financial reports of the listed companies for the year 2068/69. It seems that the investors are pessimistic regarding the dividend they might get because of which the blue chips companies like BOK, CHCL, EBL, SCBL and EBL were on decreasing note on Tuesday and Wednesday despite their sound financial reports. It was only on the final trading day, that these companies along with some other companies who have published a healthy profit bounced back to help the benchmark index to add some points in its tally. But in overall, Nepse which closed at 398.26 level, suffered loss of 4.20 points than the previous week’s closing level.

Likewise this week Nepse listed the stocks of Tourism Development Bank Limited, Gulmi Development Bank Limited and Kanchan Development Bank Limited for trading with symbol of TDBL, GULMI and KADBL respectively. 

Whereas among the traded stocks, Siddhartha Insurance Limited (SIL), closed at Rs 171, this week also was the Top Gainer with Rs 36 or 26.67%. On the other side, International Leasing and Fin. Co. (ICFC), closed at Rs 102, also for the second time in row was the Top Loser with Rs 25 or 19.69%.

Similarly in the category of highest share traded, KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 117, topped with 527,200 units. Whereas in turnover and transaction, Chilime Hydro power Co. Ltd. (CHCL), closed at Rs 1038, was the top performer with 66,560 units worth Rs. 70,138,534 via 606 transactions; in which Broker No 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was most active broker with 17.42% stand alone dealing of CHCL, amounting Rs 12,215,562 via 62 transactions of 11,696 units which includes matching of 4,816 units worth Rs 5,026,724 via 8 transactions.

Sectoral wise, Manufacturing sector gained the most with 29.01 or 4.19% points, the main contributor to this gain was  Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL), closed at Rs 7,369,  which gained Rs 559 or 8.21%.Other gainers were Insurance, Others and Hotels with 1.47 %, 0.75% and 0.08% points up than previous week’s closing. Similarly, Hydro sector suffered the most loss of 1.32%, as the CHCL lost of Rs 57 or 5.21% mainly contributed in this decline. Likewise, Banking, Finance and Development also decreased by 2.04%, 1.37% and 1.33% respectively. All in all, Sensitive index dropped by 1.29 or 1.24% to settle at 102.64 level while Float index lost 0.38 or 1.22% points to settle at 30.67 level 

Total scrips traded for the week were 115 with 33 gainers and 72 Losers .Overall week’s turnover was of Rs 367,642,835 which is comparatively Rs 95,163,113 or 25.88% higher than prior week. Overall 1,316,923 units of shares were traded via 6,474 transactions. The total market capitalization at the end of review period was Rs 376,337.77 millions which is lower by Rs 3959.19 millions compare to previous week’s closing.
