The Government of Nepal has announced a public holiday for Thursday (today), i.e., on the 15th of Jestha, on the occasion of the 'Republic Day'.

Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed to mark Republic Day. Regular trading will resume in NEPSE from Monday (19th Jestha, 2082) at 11:00 AM. Coming Sunday is marked holiday again on the occasion of Bhoto Jatra.

Republic Day is a national holiday in Nepal. It commemorates the date of the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal on 28 May 2008, which ended the 240-year rule of the Shah kings and declared Nepal a republic. The establishment of the republic concluded a nearly decade-long civil war. According to the Nepali calendar, Republic Day is observed on Jestha 15 each year. Celebrations include a military parade in Kathmandu and various small-scale events organized by government agencies across the country.
