NEPSE to Remain Closed Today, Govt Declares Public Holiday on The Occasion of Gai Jatra

The Government of Nepal has declared Sunday (Shrawan 25) a public holiday to celebrate Gai Jatra.

As a result, the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed for the day. Regular trading will resume on Monday, Shrawan 26, 2082, at 11:00 AM.

Gai Jatra, or the "Cow Festival," is a traditional Newar celebration in Nepal where families honor loved ones who have passed away by parading cows or people dressed as cows through the streets. It blends remembrance with humor, music, and dance, bringing communities together in joy and healing.
