The Government of Nepal has announced a public holiday for Friday (today), i.e., on 19th Bhadra, on the occasion of the 'Krishna Janmashtami' festival of Hindus.

The Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed to mark Krishna Janmashtami. Regular trading will resume in NEPSE from Monday (Bhadra 22, 2083) at 11:00 AM.

Krishna Janmashtami, also known simply as Krishnashtami, Janmashtami, or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. In certain Hindu texts, such as the Gitagovinda, Krishna has been identified as the supreme God and the source of all avatars.
