NEPSE to remain close today to mourn demise of President of Nepali Congress and former PM Sushil Koirala

Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain close today to mourn the passing away of former Prime Minister of Nepal and President of Nepal Congress Sushil Koirala. The cabinet meeting has declared a public holiday today and national flag to half staffs for three days in all government offices of Nepal including Nepalese diplomatic missions in foreign countries in the honor of Late Sushil Koirala. Furthermore, Mr. Koirala will be cremated with state honor. Other official programs will not be held by the government during these three days. On Monday (February 08, 2016), the benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange went up by 0.93 points or 0.07% to close at 1263.75 points. The total turnover of the day stood above Rs 61.55 crore where more than 11 lakhs unit shares were traded through 3,304 transactions. The turnover has decreased as compared to the last two trading days where turnover stood well above 70 crore. Sensitive index and the float index went up by 0.09 points and 0.21 points respectively. Except Hydropower and Insurance sector, all the sector landed in red. Hydropower sector went up by 63.26 points and Insurance sector went up by 55.03 points. NEPSE will resume its business tomorrow, February 11, 2016.
