NEPSE surges by double digit for second day in a row; NTC traded at 52-week high level

Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) Index has gained 17.93 points today (1.23%) to close trading at 1476.90. It had gained 0.80% on the last trading day (January 9, 2017). Not only the index, the total turnover amount has also increased today. The turnover which barely stood at Rs 26.50 crore yesterday, increased to Rs 37.32 crore today. Today, Nepse Index opened at 1458.97 points and after that it was seen in an upward trend. 70,481 units of Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank (MLBL) and 42,438 units of NB Insurance Limited (NBIL) were traded the most today. NB Insurance limited (NBIL) had the highest turnover of over Rs. 4.73 crore. In the first trading hour today, Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) was traded at a 52-week high price of Rs 724. The total turnover of the day stood above Rs.37.32 crore where 5.87 lakh unit shares were traded through 2,726 transactions. NB Insurance Company (NBIL) and Karnali Development Bank (KRBL) hit positive circuit today as well. Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Limited (MLBL), which resumed transaction yesterday after merger, lost the most today as well. Purnima Bikas Bank (PURBL) and Mount Makalu Development Bank (MMDBL) were also among the top losers today. Sensitive and float index increased by 3.78 and 1.37 points respectively. All the sectors except Hotels and Others ended in green.
