The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) will remain closed today, even as the government has decided to reopen all offices in Kathmandu district following improvements in weather conditions.

The government had earlier declared two days of public holidays on 19 and 20 Ashwin due to continuous heavy rainfall, which had blocked major access routes to the capital and hampered urgent rescue and relief operations. However, with the weather conditions improving and risks subsiding, a notice from the Kathmandu district administration stated that all government offices, institutions, and local bodies would resume services from 10:00 AM onwards on 20 Ashwin, with employees expected to be present accordingly.

Despite this government directive, the Secondary Market Operations of NEPSE will commence only from 21 Ashwin, meaning the stock exchange will remain closed today. Authorities have clarified that the closure is due to operational adjustments and safety considerations, ensuring smooth functioning once trading resumes. Market participants and investors are advised to plan their activities accordingly and await the reopening of trading operations tomorrow.
