NEPSE registers double digit fall; Promoter Shares of Machhapuchchhre Bank and Nirdhan Utthan increases total turnover

NEPSE index registered a double digit fall to start the week’s trade. The market which had started at 1,220.98 lost 13.70 points to close at 1,207.28 points.

During the day, more than 27 lakh units shares worth Rs 56.47 crore were traded during the day. Shares of 154 listed companies were exchanged through 3,642 transactions.

The promoter shares of Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited (MBLPO) was ahead in terms of turnover as well by units traded.  During the day, 12.74 lakh unit shares worth 16.56 crore were exchanged.

Samata Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SMATA) was the top gainer for the day as the price increased by 106 points to close its LTP at Rs 1,579. However, Life Insurance Corporation Nepal (LICN) was the top loser for the day losing 80 points to close at Rs 1,500. Amendment of its previous 36% bonus shares into 12% bonus shares have been regarded as the reason for decrease in its price.

Both the sensitive and float index decreased by 2.86 points and 1.11 points respectively.

Out of the sub-indices, only Others was in the green zone gaining 4.23 points. Life Insurance sector lost 87.52 points which was followed by Non- Life Insurance sector losing 65.39 points.
