NEPSE registers 46.60% year-on-year growth; Development bank sector stood as top performer

NEPSE saw a rise of 46.60%  at the end of the year 2072 as compared to last year. On Chaitra 30, 2071, NEPSE was at 947.22 points, while this year the index is at 1388.63 points, a year-on-year rise of 441.41 points.

A similar observation of sector-wise indices reveal development bank as top performing segments, which registered a growth of 70.87%, while Hotels segment  has turned out to be the worst performer registering a decline of 7.33%.

Last year, on Chaitra 30, the index for development banks was at 798.01, whereas this year its index is at1363.57, a rise of 565.56 points. Similarly, Hotel  index on the day was at 1986.97 points last year, but has declined to 1,841.20  this year, a fall of 145.69 points.

Insurance Sector and Banking sector also saw a humble rise this year. Insurance sector saw a growth of 55.18% and Banking sector saw a growth of 55.35%.

Last year on Chaitra 30, Insurance Index was at 3921.39 points, whereas this year the index is at 6085.06 points. Similarly, the banking Index last year was at 832.14 points and this year the Banking Index stood at Rs. 1292.74 points.

Manufacturing & Production  and Finance sector ended the year with average performance. While Manufacturing & Production  saw a rise of 43.65%, Finance sector climbed by  32.44%.

Last year, on Chaitra 30 Manufacturing & Production index was at 1,504.12 points while this year it is at 2,160.68 points . Finance was at 532.26 points on Chaitra 30 last year but moved up to close at 709.94 points this year.

Hydropower Sector saw a meager rise of 3.06%. Last year it closed at 2,208 points, this year the index is at 2275.62 points.

Others sector saw a rise of 18.37%. Last year others sector was at 709.61 points, whereas this year, others sector closed at 839.99 points.
