NEPSE Loses in Double Digits to Close at 1,431.52 Level; All Sectors in Red; Market Turnover Rs. 1.68 Arba

The market today closed at 1,431.52 levels, falling in double digits by 23.36 points (1.61%).

The market was red throughout the day, with the open itself being the intraday high. The market closed at its intraday low.

Thus, today's volatility is equal to the total decline in NEPSE index for the day, i.e. 23.36 points.

It seems that investors are pessimistic about the directives forwarded by Nepal Rastra Bank for Banks and Microfinance companies. The directive for Banks was released on Monday and that for microfinance companies was released yesterday (Tuesday). The NEPSE index dropped in both the days.

Even though the market trended down, a total of 3,839,671 shares exchanged hands amounting to an impressive Rs. 1,687,093,091 in the turnover amount. 187 scrips were traded via 24,224 transactions.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) has the highest turnover of Rs. 15.71 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 584 per share. Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited (NLIC) has the second-highest turnover of Rs. 10.81 crores. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) also has the highest number of shares traded for the day among all companies.

Float index is down by 1.71 points and is currently at 100.49. On the other hand, the Sensitive Index is currently at 300.49 after losing 5.18 points from the previous close.

Union Hydropower Company Limited (UNHPL), Joshi Hydropower Development Company Limited (JOSHI), Mirmire Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MMFDB), Aarambha Chautari Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ACLBSL), and Ghalemdi Hydro Limited (GHL) hit 10% positive circuit today.

On the other hand, Janautthan Samudayic Laghubitta Bikas Bank Limited (JSLBB) lost the most 9.45% followed by Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (GILB) that lost 7.4%.

All sectors closed red today, with Hotels losing the most 3.64%.

It feels as if NEPSE is on correction mode. How do you interpret this market move?
